The addition of niobium reduces the risk of intergranular corrosion caused by the precipitation of chromium carbides. A higher silicon content improves the fluidity of the weld pool and its wetting ability, resulting in a smooth weld bead with a regular shape. This wire can be used primarily in the processing industry, in pharmaceutical equipment, and for welding stainless steel intended for high-temperature applications. During welding with LNM 309LSi wire, it is recommended to use a shielding gas mixture containing argon ranging from 0.5% to 5% CO2 or from 0.5% to 3% O2.
